English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and U.S. Citizenship Classes at the Library
There will be Computer Basics Literacy classes at the Library during the second through fourth weeks of
January, 2012.
The aim is to help students understand computers and learn computer terminology in English. Limited translation / help will be available in other languages. This will help prepare for the hand-on classes at the Library. The anticipated
spring 2012
classes for Speakers of Other Languages are a
Level I ESOL class for Haitians and others who speak French, a Multicultural Level II ESOL class for those who speak some English, a Level II ESOL class for Hebrew/Yiddish men, and a
U.S. Citizenship-exam preparation class. These classes are offered free to the public.
The library thanks Literacy Volunteers of Westchester and Rockland (LVWRC), Hudson Valley Catskill Partnership (HVCP), the Village of Spring Valley, and the Spring Valley Youth Bureau at the Louis Kurtz Center for their support and partnership in this very successful project.
If you have questions or if you are interested in any of these programs, please call the Library at (845) 352-5700, ext 265.
Current Applicants, please note:

would like to have an opportunity to discuss a topic in their native language (e.g., Spanish, Yiddish, etc.) before the topic is covered in class in English.
Each applicant will be called for a short interview at the library.
