On Wed., November 17, the Library is making an exciting change to our catalog system!

"After many years of careful consideration, the Finkelstein Board of Trustees decided to make this change so that we can better serve our patrons," said Richard Rothbard, president of Finkelstein's board. "The circulation and catalog program is our most important tool for the smooth running of the library and for ease of use by our patrons. Millennium meets our patrons' demand for a better, more flexible program."

What are the advantages?

	Searching is easier and faster. There is one search box. If you have used a search engine like Google, you'll feel right at home
	Customizing your results is easier than ever. After all, you come to the library to find, not search.
	Although the new system works independently of the Ramapo-Catskill Library System, you will still be able to take out materials when you visit other libraries, and obtain materials from other libraries.
	When you request an item online, a search will be made of area libraries to find the requested item(s). You will be able to see the status of your request and receive notification when the item arrives.
	The new system will cost the Library thousands of dollars less to operate, allowing us to use those funds to improve the collection and other services to you.

One of the features we are most excited about will be the ability to access the catalog in languages other than English. As Millennium is phased in, you will be able to use the catalog in Spanish, French, Yiddish, and Russian.

Security and the protection of your privacy is important. The introduction of photo IDs will guarantee secure check out and allow you to check out materials even when you've forgotten your library card!
