Educator Mariola Strahlberg shares her collection of posters about Janusz Korczak (Henryk Goldszmit 1879-1942), Holocaust hero, children's author, pediatrician and educator, who was an advocate of children's rights and introduced a form of democratic education to the world from 1912-1942. He is well known in Europe and many schools, orphanages and camps throughout the world are modeled on his principles today.
After spending many years working as director of an orphanage in Warsaw, Korczak refused freedom and stayed with his orphans when the institution was sent from the Ghetto to the Treblinka extermination camp, during the Grossaktion Warsaw of 1942.
