Sunday Live Music Events

Our music concerts take place on the Sundays shown below at the Finkelstein Memorial Library, 24 Chestnut Street, Spring Valley, NY. All of the concerts are FREE and OPEN to the public.

  • AFTERNOON programs are held indoors in our Fielding Room on the third floor.
  • Please note: Summer EVENING concerts are held OUTDOORS on library grounds. Outdoor concerts are indicated within concert listings below. Seating will be provided but you may bring a lawn chair for outdoor concerts. NOTE: In case of inclement weather, outdoor programs will be moved indoors to our Fielding Room.
  • Doors to the Fielding Room open 15 minutes before the performance.

Rockland County’s senior performers incorporate music and comedy in a tribute to Broadway: a majority of the songs are from Broadway shows.

April 8, 2 – 3 PM

In full period costume, pianist and actor Dennis Kobray explores the life and music of composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and performs solo piano recitals of his works.

Dennis Kobray presents one-man living history programs on the lives, times and music of each of the following nine composers: Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin, Brahms, Foster, Joplin and Gershwin. Kobray also performs solo piano recitals of the works of several musicians with brief profiles of each artist.

ridgewood gilbert and sullivanRidgewood Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company

April 29, 2 – 3:30 PM

Enjoy a concert version of the comic opera Princess Ida, a hilarious twist on a traditional medieval fairy tale. Performed in ordinary attire with only a few props; all musical numbers are included, but there is no dialogue.

PartyoffourThe Party of Four – A Flute Quartet

May 6, 2 – 3 PM

Listen to the music of Mozart originally written for strings and piano, as well as brand new works written for this group. In honor of Memorial Day, “Patriotic Flute Salute” arranged by Bill Holcombe will also be performed.
