The Finkelstein Memorial Library is a free public library, founded in 1917, now serving over 100,000 people in the East Ramapo Central School District of Rockland County, New York. The Library has a collection of over 300,000 items and a circulation of over 700,000 items per year. We continue to be one of the most heavily used libraries in the region with over 425,000 visitors last year.

Our collection has something for everyone: books for children and adults, DVDs, audiobooks, music CDs and other materials. Our staff of professionals answer over 5,000 reference questions in the library, by telephone and by email each month. We offer a wide variety of programs and classes for the community. Computers with high speed Internet access, word processing, and other applications are available throughout the library. High speed wireless internet access is freely available.

Finkelstein Memorial Library has a long and proud history of supporting unfettered intellectual freedom and a continued commitment to lifelong learning and educational support. Now, nearly a century later, Finkelstein Memorial Library – its trustees, its staff, its Friends and supporters – understand that today’s information needs cannot merely be satisfied through a collection of books alone. All manner of informational formats – including electronic databases, audio-visual materials, and educational and cultural programming designed to inspire and inform – are being taken into consideration as we develop a realistic plan for the years ahead.
